Open Channel Flow using Level Transmitter
This style of level measurement is considerably cheaper than the Open Channel VA meters, as a obstruction is placed in the flow stream with a carefully graduated notch or groove. A level measuring device (often an ultrasonic level measuring device) is located at a set position behind the weir. Based on the level measured, and a special formula called the mannings formula, the flow volume can be theoretically calculated. This method of flow measurement is not considered to be very accurate, and is generally for indication only.
